چکیده

We present a new learning-based approach for the representation of complex motion patterns that is based on the linear combination of prototypical movement sequences that can be used in clinical gait and movement analysis. Opposed to many existing methods that are based on heuristically chosen individual kinematic or kinetic features, this method extracts automatically the meaningful parts of the spatio-temporal characteristics of whole movement trajectories and maps the trajectories into an abstract topological space with axes that have a simple meaningful interpretation. We give an overview over the algorithm and describe examples for the analysis, quantification and synthesis of movements. Further, we describe clinical applications on the quantitative analysis of patients suffering from Parkinson disease.

A New Wavelet Based Spatio-temporal Method for Magnification of Subtle Motions in Video

Video magnification is a computational procedure to reveal subtle variations during video frames that are invisible to the naked eye. A new spatio-temporal method which makes use of connectivity based mapping of the wavelet sub-bands is introduced here for exaggerating of small motions during video frames. In this method, firstly the wavelet transformed frames are mapped to connectivity space a...

Postnatal development of spatial coding in the gravity sensing system

The critical maturation time of central otolith neurons in processing spatial orientations was examined in Sprague-Dawley rats. With the use of immuno-hybridization histochemical methods, we observed c-fos expression in vestibular nuclear neurons responding to transverse movement on the horizontal plane as early as P7 and those to antero-posterior stimulation as early as P9. In the inferior oli...

Estimation of Skill Levels in Sports Based on Hierarchical Spatio-Temporal Correspondences

We present a learning-based method for the estimation of skill levels from sequences of complex movements in sports. Our method is based on a hierarchical algorithm for computing spatio-temporal correspondence between sequences of complex body movements. The algorithm establishes correspondence at two levels: whole action sequences and individual movement elements. Using Spatio-Temporal Morphab...

Mining Spatial and Temporal Movement Patterns of Passengers on Bus Networks

The analysis of human behavior is the basis of understanding many social phenomena. Accurate and reliable human movement pattern mining can lead to instructive insight to transport management, urban planning and location-based services (LBS). As one of the most widely used forms of transportation, buses can tell a lot of stories about people, including passenger demands, areas people are intere...
